Boys Vs. Girls: The Societal Stereotypes Of Toys, Gifts, and Clothing
Wednesday Oct 06, 2021
Wednesday Oct 06, 2021
Morgen and Trisha touch on the societal stereotypes we feel our children are pushed into. When shopping, the girls' section is all pinks and purples with flowers, ballerinas, and what is deemed feminine. The boys' section is all blues and greens with trucks, Dinosaurs, and superheroes. The same goes for the toys the kids are given. Girls are expected to play with dolls and have tea parties while the boys are given trucks and robots. The societal norms are more than just gift-givers going with social influences; it starts at the stores we buy from. As mama's with girls, Morgen & Trisha want Charlie & Remi to be empowered and not too influenced by societal stereotypes on what is considered feminine or masculine. The same goes for Auggie when he gets older.

It‘s Time For A Baby Monitor Upgrade
Wednesday Sep 29, 2021
Wednesday Sep 29, 2021
Baby monitors, baby monitors, baby monitors!
Morgen and Trisha recently upgraded their baby monitors, almost three years later, and both love their new ones compared to their previous ones. The image is better, and the camera rotation is better. They’re on a secure network; multiple cameras can be connected to the same baby monitor, and the connection and battery life are better.
Bottom line, a baby monitor is one of the items that is used the most, so you want to make sure it checks all the boxes. Listen in to find out which two Morgen and Trisha ended up with and why.
Please do share what you love or hate about yours because we’re always scoping the scene! You can reach us at momjeansandminivans@yahoo.com and make sure you include your momfession.

The Transition To A Toddler Bed (May The Force Be with You)
Wednesday Sep 22, 2021
Wednesday Sep 22, 2021
The theme of this week's episode is 'do whatever you have to do to get by,' and it's referring to the crib-to-toddler bed transition.
Morgen and Trisha talk about their totally different timelines, sacrifices made for more sleep, and how both Charlie and Remi respond differently to methods used to help them sleep and transition to their big girl beds. Trisha transitioned Remi early, around 16 months, because she started climbing out of her crib shortly after her first birthday. Charlie is almost three, and Morgen is going through the process now and has a 5-month-old unpredictable baby to contend with.
The struggle is real, mamas!
Morgen is yearning for one night of uninterrupted sleep since it's been a year and a half since she's had one. Trisha's three-month process had her sleeping on the floor in front of Remi's bed some nights, barely sleeping, but at least being able to stay horizontal and not have to get up 1000 times. The things moms do for their children, and to get an ounce more sleep!

Death and Talking toToddlers
Wednesday Sep 15, 2021
Wednesday Sep 15, 2021
Death is a part of life, and unfortunately, every person will be affected by it at some point in their life. When death strikes close to home, and there are children involved, helping them process it all can be a tricky road to navigate.
Remi just lost her uncle Johnny to a nine-year battle with brain cancer, and Trisha did a lot of research and got creative on ways to discuss it with Remi and her niece and nephews (Johnny's children).
Books are a great way to introduce and explain death to children, while guided journals can be a way to create memory boxes. Getting paper lanterns that the kids can draw on and sending messages to their loved ones is an excellent way to feel connected with someone who is physically not there anymore.
Death is a sensitive time for everyone involved, and although children are very resilient, they are still trying to process feelings and emotions much bigger than they are. Be patient, be kind, and understanding, and if you are simply there, you're already one step ahead.
Now on a separate note, if potty training is a part of your world right now, you'll want to hear Morgen and Trisha's momfessions this week, plus you'll get to learn what a "BM" is if you don't already know.
If this week's heavy episode is something you have dealt with and you've got advice or even any questions, please email us at momjeansandminivans@yahoo.com we'd love to hear!

Maternity With A Newborn and Then It's Back To Work We Go
Thursday Aug 05, 2021
Thursday Aug 05, 2021
Morgen and Trisha are joined by new mom, Allison, as they delve into all things maternity leave. More importantly, the struggles of returning to work after maternity leave. Let’s say the week and especially the night before returning to work involved many mini breakdowns and tears.
They discuss common misconceptions like people thinking maternity leave is like vacation when in reality, it is exhausting, and wonderful.
Both Morgen’s marternity leave with Auggie, and Allison’s with Harrison was during Covid making them both feel pretty isolated and limited on getting out and doing things with the babes.
There are so many emotions with having a new baby but us mama’s got this. One day and one maternity leave at a time.

Newborn Tips and Tricks for Keeping Your Sanity
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Having an infant, no matter if it's your first or you've got multiples, is exhausting. Having infant tips, tricks, and hacks can make all the difference in keeping your sanity and getting through the day. Listen in as Morgen and Trisha dish about the things that made their lives easier, and let's be honest, every minute counts.
Yes, all the contraptions that allow you to wear your baby are lifesavers. Hands-free is not just a term used with cell phones. Those cute crossover tulip-shaped shoulders on onesies are not just adorable but functional, and any parent that has dealt with a diaper explosion can attest to that. (Ahem, Trisha).
It's also about the things that give you back a little bit of your sanity through the chaos. Morgen can take long hot showers again because she's discovered that Auggie likes the sound of running water. Morgen and Trisha advise you to take the help when offered and go on mommy play dates with mothers who have a child or children the same age. You'll be glad you did.
Listen in for some of our favorite tips and tricks when dealing with infants. Please, do share your hacks at momjeansandminivans@yahoo.com .

Post Covid Playdates
Wednesday Jul 07, 2021
Wednesday Jul 07, 2021
It’s summer 2021, the Covid vaccines have come out, and Morgen and Trisha discuss what that means for summer playdates.
Dealing with Covid for over a year has created a new norm of social distancing. There is some discomfort, fear, and anxieties around exposing our toddlers to more people and being maskless. Is it weird to ask people if they’ve been vaccinated?
How are you going to approach summer and letting more people into your circle? Please do share with Morgen and Trisha at momjeansandminivans@yahoo.com , and you’ll probably want to stick around for this week’s momfessions. Cheers and happy summer, everyone!!

Lil' Mama-sode: The First Pediatric Dental Visit
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
It's dentist time!
Somehow the dentist visit seems to be the one appointment that parents procrastinate on. Add Covid into the mix, and that procrastination gets amplified.
When do you bring your child to the dentist for the first time? When do you start brushing or start flossing? What toothpaste do you use, fluoride or no fluoride? These ladies had so many questions, more so Morgen, and Trisha helped answer many of them in this "Lil' mama-sode," with Remi conquering her first dental visit. Plus, you won't want to miss baby Auggie chatter while the ladies were on the mic. Talk about keeping mom life real! #newbornmamalife

Potty Training Update, Pen to Paper Meets Reality
Wednesday May 19, 2021
Wednesday May 19, 2021
In November, these mommas mentally prepared for their toddler's messiest and most adult-involved milestone yet, potty training. Both Morgen and Trisha planned on tackling potty training differently.
It's now four months later when pen to paper meets reality. In this episode, we update you on the reality of potty training, sharing what we ended up doing and how it REALLY is going, especially now that they are at the bowl movement stage. Playground accidents, anyone?
Remi was ready to take the lead within a week, whereas Charlie slowly grasped the concept and then regressed once her brother was born, causing Morgen to change her approach a few times. The ladies also discuss how the training is going at home versus school and they highly suggest sending to school extra pants you won't mind having sit there for weeks on end. Morgen sent a pair of pants to school she forgot about, and thought Charlie was wearing another child's pants when she came home in them.
Let's not forget that potty training isn't just about trying to make it accident-free. It's also about toddlers learning to wipe. Too little toilet paper, too much toilet paper, the struggle is real.
Morgen and Trisha may differ on how they tackle potty training, but their most significant takeaway is to follow the child. Both Charlie and Remi let their parents know in their own ways when they were ready. As a parent, you can be afraid of "missing the potty training window," but we promise you won't if you listen to your child and the signs they are giving you.

And Then There Were Four: Raising a Newborn with a Toddler
Wednesday May 05, 2021
Wednesday May 05, 2021
Morgen & Trisha welcome the newest addition to their Mom Jeans and Minivans tribe, August, aka “Auggie.” Congratulations to Morgen, Phil & Charlie. They are now a family of 4. Just wait until you see those cheeks! They’re scrumptious!
This episode is about how the first 3 weeks have been for Morgen with a newborn and a toddler. Morgen speaks about a scare at the hospital and how breastfeeding is going. Every baby is different, so although Morgen is doing much of the same things that she did with Charlie, there are some things she has decided to do differently... like waking Auggie during the day to feed him and throwing the “never wake a sleeping baby” rule out the window. You have to hear the sweetest thing that Morgen did for Charlie when she knew she’d be in the hospital away from her for a couple of days, mom award of the year, just saying.
Listen in to hear what it’s like with a newborn and a toddler and how Morgen balances it all. There are some interesting takeaways you won’t want to miss. Got a newborn and want to share some stories; please do at momjeansandminivans@yahoo.com
