Making Memories That Will Last, with Family Trips

Road and family trips seem like a thing of the past. With Covid vaccines and hopes on the horizon, they thought they’d air this episode (that they recorded over a year ago). They reminisce about their upbringing in hopes of recreating similar memories with Remi and Charlie.

They share some great stories about the family trips both Morgen and Trisha went on and the things that stick out in their minds from the family time together. Bike riding, camping, hiking, and cross country skiing are activities that they both remember doing. It’s interesting how you’d hate aspects of these trips as a kid, but as an adult, it’s what made it a memory and one you’ve grown to love! Morgen used to fly solo to visit family and friends, while Trisha would have long weekends with her Aunts and Uncles. Girlfriend Talk: The Truth About Pregnancy

Snippity Do Dah Snippity Day

How could inappropriate banter not be a part of an episode about vasectomies, or snippity-do-dah's as Trisha and her husband, Jacen, started to refer to them as? Jacen walks through every step of the process, from the endless YouTube videos he watched before the procedure to the recovery afterward and everything in between.

You'll most likely find yourself wincing when Jacen delves into the details of the procedure. Whether you have balls or not, it just sounds painful. Only Children Aren't Doomed, the Pros and Cons

Only children aren't doomed! Morgen speaks about being an only child while Trisha talks about having only one baby considering the 14 year age gap between Remi and her brother Jack.

Morgen reflects on her school days and growing up, even into adulthood, of friends asking about wanting or having a sibling. She didn't think about it until her 20's, and it's a perspective you'll want to hear about.

Trisha speaks of her gratitude for her family and takes advantage of Remi's moments, knowing she is the one and only, and wanting to embrace every moment with her.

Dreaming of a Post Covid Life

We think we speak for anyone plagued with Covid when we say it’s time to dream about life after it is over! Morgen and Trisha gush about all the things they’re looking forward to doing. Does anyone remember movie theaters? It feels like ages, although they also have 2-year-olds, so that was a thing of the past before Covid hit anyway. 

 

Ahh, being able to just go outside and do what you want when you want feels like such a luxury. Spontaneously meeting up with friends or having people over will be so fun. We dream of being able to do day trips, taking the kiddos to parks, indoor gyms, aquariums, and, dare we say, hugging friends again. How about eating at restaurants?! A date night or spa day?!?! Yes, please!

Baby Showers Now (Covid Time) and Pre-Covid Times

Oh, what a difference two and a half years makes. Morgen and Trisha reflect back to their baby showers. Back when friends and family could gather freely to celebrate the welcomed addition of a sweet new baby. They talk not only about what they loved about their showers and the personalized details that went into them... cupcakes, views of the outdoors, and woodland themes, to name a few. Trisha shares a genius idea about unwrapping gifts and taking the awkwardness out of having all eyes focused on you during this time.

Whether you live in the Northeast, and the winter season makes it challenging to get kids outside, or whether you're looking for indoor activities to keep your kids occupied during rainy and cold weather, Morgen and Trisha have a slew of gross motor ideas.

 

Warning: some of these activities are designed for the Little's yet require guidance and involvement. A.k.a, you may be getting just as much of a workout, if not more than them. A Mom of a Time, You Asked, and we Answered

Morgen and Trisha loved one of their listener emails so much they wanted to share it and tackle Laurel's questions and concerns about her two-year-old son, Liam. Boy, can we all relate to this one!

Children in the 2-year-old age range learn independence and express themselves, so possession of their toys and other items is a natural and expected behavior. "Mine" might be the most used word at this age, possibly even followed by a tantrum, which is always fun... NOT!
It can make you want to pull your hair out from your child's constant need for attention, saying your name over and over again until you acknowledge them, even though you're on a work call and trying to cook at the same time?!? Yup, we hear you. It's hard not to lose your cool but reminding yourself that they are learning how to behave and what manners mean can make it easier to respond the way you'd like them to start acting and learning. 

Choices, choices, choices is another thing that has been an extremely helpful tool to use. Offering choices will yield the result you're looking for and allow your child to feel empowered by being able to make a choice themselves.
